In celebration of World AIDS Day, the AIDS Memorial Grove at Golden Gate Park will host two days of events to commemorate the occasion on November 30 and December 1, 2013.

Saturday – Nov 30

On November 30, 2013, the Grove will hold its annual Light in the Grove gala fundraiser on the eve of World AIDS Day. From 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, participants will meet at the AIDS Memorial Grove, located on 108 Bowling Green Drive, to enjoy an evening full of hope with cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and dinner served under a tented gathering. Music, performances, and art are also on the menu for the evening. The gala will additionally commemorate Tim Hanlon, president of Wells Fargo Foundation, who pushed for corporate philanthropy and funding in support of AIDS-related organizations and causes at a time when others turned their backs. Tickets are needed for this event.

Sunday – Dec 1

On December 1, 2013, the 20th annual World AIDS Day Observance at the Memorial Grove will pay homage to the leaders in AIDS activism and create an atmosphere where loved ones and supporters may reflect on loved ones lost and still battling the disease. A choir performance will delight the ears with an Observance and light lunch to follow – all of which are free and open to the public. This event starts at noon sharp, and is found at the intersection of Bowling Green and Nancy Pelosi Drive.
