In the wintertime, it’s not uncommon to see an array of weekly or monthly events put on hold. At Golden Gate Park, there are a few events and activities that take a break in for the winter season, such as the free Friday night cultural events at deYoung Museum.  November 29, 2013, marks the Season 9 Finale for the popular weekly event, so if you haven’t enjoyed the museum’s cultural fun this year – next week is your last chance to do so.

The last Friday Nights at deYoung event for the 2013 season will be held from 5 p.m. to 8:45 p.m., where you can enjoy an assortment of live music, art making, dance, and other cultural merriment. Some of the themes for this free event will incorporate current exhibits at the museum, such as The Art of Bulgari: La Dolce Vita & Beyond, 1950–1990 and David Hockney: A Bigger Exhibition.

The 2014 season of Friday Nights at deYoung will kick off in March.

Other things that you will have to wait until the New Year to enjoy at the park include:

Golden Gate Park Band Performances

The free public concerts held at Spreckels Temple of Music at the Music Concourse in Golden Gate Park will return for another season in April of 2014. The performances start at 1 p.m. and usually last between 1 ½ to 2 hours. Concerts are often themed, and may include patriotic tunes, folk music, Broadway show tunes, marches, and cultural celebrations.

No More Tea Ceremonies at Japanese Tea Garden Until Spring 2014

If you’re thinking of enjoying a Tea Ceremony anytime soon, keep in mind that the Japanese Tea Garden is not accepting any reservations until next Spring 2014, and will resume the Ceremonies at that time.
