From Tempe, Arizona to Savannah, Georgia, the SkirtChaser Race Series has traveled the United States and will take over Golden Gate Park on November 15, 2009. From hot-to-trot walkers to pro-runners, locals will have a chance to tackle a 5K course that offers a Block Party at the end of the finish line. If you’re wondering how the race got its name, women start first in what is known as the ‘Catch Me’ wave with men following behind three minutes later – as the ‘SkirtChasers.’

While other races promise ribbons and T-shirts, the first person to cross the line of this event (no matter the gender) will take home a $500 grand prize. After the sweat, dirt (and sometimes tears), kick back with an after-party that promises live entertainment, activities (including dating games), and a fashion show. Fill up on free food, wine, and beer.

For more details or to sign up, check out www.skirtchaser5k.com, but keep in mind – online registration ends on Nov 11, 2009 at midnight. Don’t worry, you can still sign up on the day of the race. A portion of event proceeds will go towards Chances for Children – a not-for-profit organization centered on youth programs for the disadvantaged.
