There’s good reason to run this weekend. Over 20,000 people from 50 states and more than 18 countries will be running through the park in a race to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The race, put on by Nike, has raised over 40 million dollars in its first three years, which means more money and energy for groundbreaking research. So lets get out there and support all those with the will to show up at the starting line on race day, Sunday, October 21.
And if you weren’t able to reserve a spot in the race Sunday, everyone is welcome Saturday for the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer run. There’s no registration fee or minimum fundraising amount, and it’s open to women, men, and children of all ages. Bottom line is to provide hope to all facing this terrible disease. Breast cancer is the 2nd leading cause of cancer deaths, but with more money raised through events like these, organizations are able to provide up to date prevention and early detection information, which can cut the death rate dramatically.
