Speedway Meadow will transform into a harmonious event on Saturday, September 12, 2009 (9am to 5pm) – welcoming all with open arms to a gathering of international musicians, visual artists, keynote speakers, and more than 200 exhibitors and green vendors.

The Power to the Peaceful festival has been educating attendees on issues of social justice, non-violence, and environmental sustainability since 1988. Over the years, what started as a local get-together has morphed into a pretty impressive event with more than 70,000 people assembling at what is now one of the largest free music festivals in the United States.

Start your morning with a yoga session before browsing the many information booths and enjoying the musical entertainment for the day: Michael Franti and Spearhead, Alanis Morissette, Sly & Robbie, and a collection of respectable DJs.

This free event is fun for the entire family with a kid’s zone supplying carnival games, flag making, face painting, marionettes, and stilt walkers. The kiddies even have their own Kids Zone Stage of performers, including PopLyfe, Jaden, Peace Outs, and Gabby La La. The festival is also partnering with Clean Vibes (a company that provides environmentally responsible waste management) to make sure this green event takes it easy on Mother Nature.
