While the year-round weather is typically ideal for a visit to Golden Gate Park, it is also the perfect setting to enjoy a barbecued feast during the summer or throw an office baseball tournament in October. Throwing events at Golden Gate Park is quite easy since there are plenty of places, fields, picnic tables, and athletic arenas to take pleasure in. To secure your space at one of the lovely locations scattered about the park, making a reservation or gaining the proper permit is highly recommended.

a) Reserving Picnic Areas

Small group and family gatherings are charged a $25 fee to enjoy some of the picnic spaces inside of Golden Gate Park that offers a variety of tables, barbeque arenas, and easily accessible restrooms. It is important to keep in mind that not all picnic areas are set up for barbequing or provide tables for visitors. For example, the George Washington Grove located at Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive & 25th Ave. offers tables and barbecue areas, but no restrooms, while the Speedway Meadow on John F. Kennedy Drive & 25th Ave offers tables, barbeque areas, and restrooms.

Reservations are accepted on a first come-first serve basis during the regular business hours from Monday to Saturday. Permits are signed, paid for, and picked up (in-person) at the Pioneer Log Cabin on 2 Stow Lake Drive no later than 5pm on the Monday following your reservation call. You should know there are no phone reservations taken for the holidays. Most fields will be open to the public on a first come-first serve basis. Sometimes, a particular field can be reserved when a request is made in writing at least 30 days in advance.
