On July 25th 2009, some of the best performers in the Bay Area are set to gather on an acoustic stage at Marx Meadow in Golden Gate Park. But, this is no ordinary musical extravaganza. The instruments showcased at this event will come from used, recycled, and found objects. Live entertainment to look forward to include performances by the Goat Family, One Man Banjo, Vagabondage, Reverend and Missus McCubbin, 5 Cent Coffee, and Liquor Cake.

From 11am to 5pm, this event will also offer a variety of workshops to show you how to create your own music makers out of common household items. Learn how to play the jug with Wayne Hagen. Create a drum set out of household junk with Ricardo Zegri. Let Bryn Tucker introduce you to the tin pan mandolin.

This weekend, why don’t you join the organizers of Junkstock, who believe in the notion that anyone can make music and that all around us, there is an object just itching to become an instrument. All of this Saturday do-it-yourself musical fun is completely free and fit for all family members. For more information, check out: http://www.junkstock.org.
