In the month of July, Golden Gate Park offers a little something for everyone with events to entertain and educate music lovers, photographers, and gardeners. Expect events that mix comedy with instruction, bring together communities with music, and incorporates picture taking with the great outdoors. Highlights of Golden Gate Park events in July include:

Golden Gate Park Band Patriotic Concert (July 3)

From 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., prepare to enjoy an explosive performance by the Golden Gate Park Band that gets you ready to celebrate the Fourth of July. The program will include patriotic music by American composers with a special emphasis on the sesquicentennial of the Civil War. Head for the Music Concourse Bandshell to enjoy the band – under the direction of Michael L. Wirgler. As always, this is a free musical event.

Temple Sunshine Sessions (July 3)

If you are a fan of house music, the Temple Sunshine Sessions could be a good opportunity to enjoy free music at Golden Gate Park. Starting at 1 p.m., non-stop beats will play until 5 p.m. It is suggested to bring picnic goodies and beverages. This event is being held at George Washington Grove (on the eastern, unpaved edge of 25th Avenue between Lincoln Way and MLK Drive) – thanks to Temple Nightclub. For more information, click here.

Conservation Photography Workshop  (July 10)

Combining a classroom setting with outdoor practice at Stow Lake, participants of this afternoon workshop (3 to 7 p.m.) will learn about the unique storytelling techniques associated with conservation photography. Fees include $50 for adults and $40 for members of CAS. This opportunity has limited spaces and is open to ages 18 and over. To reserve a place, purchase a ticket or call 800-794-7576. Award-Winning Landscape Designer Talk  (July 14)

The Conservatory of Flowers will play host to Billy Goodnick, an award-winning landscape designer and one of the funniest garden writers in the U.S. This event is titled “Crimes Against Horticulture: When Bad Taste Meets Power Tools ” – slated for 7 p.m. to 8p.m. Goodnick is a contributing editor, column writer and blogger for Fine Gardening Magazine. He also hosts his own TV program called “Garden Wise Guys.” Prices for the event are $15 (general public) and $10 (members), which includes admission to the Conservatory from 6:30 to 7 p.m. Space is limited, so don’t hesitate to call (415) 831-2090 or purchase your tickets online.

Pre-SF Marathon After Hours Event (July 27)

There’s a pre-race celebration being held at the Conservatory of Flowers centered on the SF Marathon on Wednesday, July 27, 2011 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Prepare for music, $5 drinks, and paper lei crafts surrounded by a tropical setting. The entry fee is $5.
