An important announcement regarding Google Earth took place at Golden Gate Park – right at the California Academy of Sciences. At a February 2nd, 2009 event, former Vice President Al Gore among other speakers, such as the CEO of Google (Eric Schmidt) and the Director of Google Geo (John Hanke), made their way to San Francisco to reveal the launch of Google Earth 5. What’s the excitement about? Google Earth 5.0 allows users to analysis images of Mars, explore the floor of the ocean, and keep an eye out for changes taking place on the Earth’s surface. According to Gore, Google Earth 5 will serve as a powerful educational tool that could shed light on mounting climate issues.
