Planted in 1932, the George Washington Elm in Golden Gate Park has a historic connection to the first President of the United States. With the ability to live up to 200 years, you have plenty of opportunities to visit, photograph, and sit a spell in the midst of this unique feature of the park. While you are there, why don’t you take the time to read the plaque located underneath the tree? It is here that you learn that the elm is a descendent of a tree associated with President Washington. Bring a blanket to enjoy the meadow situated behind the elm tree, which is near the Ghirardelli Rustic Shelter.

Location

The George Washington Elm is located at John F. Kennedy Drive – right across from the Tree Fern Dell.
