The San Francisco County Fair Building will open its doors on Saturday and Sunday (from 11am to 6pm on both days) for the 8th annual Zine Fest. As a flood of independent and underground publishers, artists and enthusiasts gather, prepare to share ideas, mull over concepts, and bring home a slice of the creative pie. Exhibitors hailing from all parts of the West Coast and beyond will celebrate zines and other DIY projects, including comics, literary presses, arts and crafts…

Ever wanted to learn the basics of screen-printing? Join the hands-on Saturday workshop (DIY Screenprinting) between 2:45pm and 3:45pm. This is your chance to get a taste of the field by cutting out mylar stencils and printing your own designs. Don’t forget to bring your own clothes or paper.

Sunday brings a wide range of workshops and discussions that allow you to: participate in an open discussion regarding Comics and Community (12:15pm to 1:15pm); explore parenting zines with Raising Kids and Raising Hell (1:30pm to 2:30pm); and learn how to create blank journals and other small publications with Bookbinding: Basics & Beyond (4pm to 5pm).

Expect more than 100 small press and DIY creators, special guests, and enlightening panels at this innovative event. For more information, check out
